Chloe Augusta – Artist Statement

Landscape painting, ceramics and manipulated photography.

Through a fascination with how landscape has been shaped and related to in the past; my work seeks to re – create a sense of the magical contained in places important to our ancestors through a combination of contemporary and traditional methods. All my work is based on a love of the landscape of Wales.

I not only find inspiration in artefacts and cup and ring stone carvings ( a gold Bronze age sun boat found in North Wales for example ) but also in the works of Andreas Gursky and Rothko. The abstraction and mirroring of landscape features is of specific interest to me due to the patterned, design effects created,
